Got it. Someone that knows their California geography: where is Glendale and Orange County in relation to the three CA locations already noted? is it possible that they are interchangeable or should they be listed as separate locations. (I have no idea where things are in California )

los angeles is a huge location to name. it could be los angeles county, or los angeles the city. basically glendale is 45 minutes east? from west los angeles. orange county is 45-60 minutes south of los angeles. im not sure if the glendale direction is right but the time is about right.

Alright, let me know if that looks fairly accurate now.
Mac Write: this is all compiled from various reports of Apple stores that may or may not be opening. I've not heard of any reports of one anywhere in Canada, but if I do, I'll add it to the map. I found the job listings by going to monster.com and searching for "Apple Computer"

That supposed "rumor" is just a blatant lie from As The Apple Turns. Or we could call it wishful thinking, if we didn't wish to sound accusatory. Hey good luck, I may start a "rumor" that Apple will upgrade my iMac rev/ a just because I use it so much still.

You're all overlooking the one place in the country that desperately NEEDS an apple store... seattle, or better yet Redmond. There's an upscale shopping complex in Redmond not more than five minutes from Microsoft's corporate campus that seems like it would fit in with the locations of apple stores around the rest of the country. Micorsoft employees could go in there during their lunch breaks and play with apple hardware... wouldn't that be great?!
I know this thread is supposed to be about places that are rumored to be getting a store... but I can't believe that apple would pass up putting a store less than a few miles from Bill.

Seattle is a place I'm sure they'll be going eventually. It's a major city and like you said, they can't pass up the opportunity to open up shop next door to Billy Boy. There's lots of places I'd love to see them open them...only time will tell.

Glendale??!! I truely can't believe that! I live in Glendale!
Pasadena I could totally see. Maybe a nice Apple Store in Old Town, next to the Bang&Olufsen store or something, but Glendale?
Not to bag on my own city, it's a nice area and all, but sheesh! I just can't see it.

We really don't need the Apple Store here in Boston. MicroCenter does a great job. The two CompUSAs need some help. It's a good thing that ComputerTown is gone. They weren't that good and I witnessed on more than one occasion Don scare a few customers away.

oh, i never thought of that. old town would be a great place for an apple store huh? hmmmm, what about 3rd street in santa monica...nah, not high class enough. old town ends up being all the nicer stores. youre right tho...glendale isnt that big. although it is...or was at one time...the cocaine capitol of southern california. my mom told me that a few years back. i dunno how she knew that. be on the look out for apple stores and cocaine. hmmmm, i bet the apple store would do well if it sold cocaine too.

Competing with Microsoft with an Apple store in Seattle may be a little more difficult. I'm not saying there are no Mac users up there, but I bet the community is pretty loyal to Microsoft overall. People tend to get that way when your company employs tens of thousands and turns lots of them into millionaires.
I don't think there are any Airbus stores up there either!! But maybe there is some business to be done with disgruntled ex-Microsoft employees and the angry neighbors of current employees. "That cocky Microsoft jerk, always lets his dog do his business in my yard. I'll show him!"

From what i hear "rumored", there is supposed to be an Apple retail at every city with a major Apple Center office. This, if true, would mean Boston (who's center is located on State Street). I would add a "woo-HOOO!" if this turns out to be true.

IMHO, I can understand putting them in really big cities, it's lots of exposure, etc etc etc. That's great. But just as important are the medium-market cities, i.e. the ones that don't have CompUSAs or good independent Apple resellers. That's where Gateway Country, Best Buy, independent PC resellers, etc. are really doing their damage. Hell for that matter, maybe they should just target every city that has a Gateway Country But seriously, I think those places that aren't already blessed by CompUSA should be top priorities.

Just got the following back from my inquiry about the Monster.com job listing:
Thank you for your interest in our Apple opportunity. I wish I could go
into greater detail with you, however, this is a confidential project that
has not been announced publicly and I have to have all potential candidates
sign a confidentiality agreement before I disclose information. What I can
tell you is this is a full time Apple position and it is a face to face
customer service oriented position. You will be surrounded by Apple
enthusiasts all day and it will be an exciting and fun working environment.
It is something new and different for Apple and it is a great opportunity.
We have different levels of positions available. Please send your resume
for review and I will contact you for further discussions.

I have heard things about a Boston store too, and not just crying for one at ATAT. Also the fact there is a micro center means nothing, there is a microcenter in most of thoses other cities too. Besdies microcenter and the few sucky compusa stores around there are no other dealers. Apple already have regional offices in Boston. I think we will see one in boston of in the metrowest area.

Whoohoo!
Just caught an article on Think Secret saying that Apple's got its eye on my hometown. I added it to the map (Savannah) and linked to the article in the list. Now let's hope they come through (maybe we'll find out on the 1st...)

Glendale's a prime candidate for an Apple store. it is in close proximity to several studios and a wide array of the "artistic"-minded. it's also a spending hub of the area, the Galleria has been jumping in revenues with each passing year since 1996.

What were your search parameters on monster.com? I went and looked for job information and the only thing I could see that approached something for a possible store position were the Technical Support Specialists. unfortunately, i think these might actually be for the CompUSA in store positions. At least they could be.

I sure hope that the rumored store in Atlanta materializes. I would seriously consider applying for a position. I guess it would depend on the pay and the commute. The roads are terrible around here. But maybe I could be a weekend employee. Hardware discounts?

Puuhhhllleeeaasssee!! Do you know Glendale? I've lived here for many years and lived all around L.A. for many years before that. I'm not saying that Los Angeles isn't a "prime candidate" for an Apple Store - it definitely is!, but Glendale specifically? No way!
Burbank would be a better choice or my personal fav, Pasadena. The Galleria is a dump compared to other local malls like The Beverly Center. I could see an Apple Store out in Westwood or Santa Monica, although parking would be a bitch in both of those locations.
Just my opinion.

Hate to throw a wrench in this thread but I heard somewhere that Apple is hiring folks to place Apple employees inside the CompUSA stores - not necessarily in Apple Stores. The several CompUSA's in the D/FW are supposed to have actual Apple employees on site 40 hours a week.

Yes, I know Glendale, I know Burbank... I know Los Angeles like the back of my hand. I've lived their exyensively over the course of the last twenty years 9with an obvious hop or two for various things).
Glendale IS a great choice, regardless of how you compare it to the Beverly Center. Putting an Apple store close to studios and a SLEW of young-stars (I can't tell you the number of them that live in or near the Glendale area) would be very beneficial.
Of course, I will agree with you on the West Hollywood/Santa Monica idea (I used to live on Flores off of S.M. Blvd.), but, that area does already have a number of "independent" Mac stores. Personally, i think it's in Apple's best interest to avoid Beverly Hills, though. And, as for Pasadena, well... I know the city and i just can't see it. Don't get me wrong, there is some great stuff in Pasadena, and I have spent a goodly amount of time there, but... no, i don't think so, maybe if the other are successful.

Hey el matteo, it seems the Chicago area may be getting a second Apple retail store, at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
Read today's macnn.com blurb. I guess it qualifies for "rumored" status for now.
Schaumburg is a western suburb of Chicago, and Woodfield is a very busy mall. I'd love to see an Apple store there (although I think Woodfield has it's own sales tax, and it's rather high).

A friend, whom shall remain nameless, told me that a building, which he may or may not own, has already been leased to Apple in Old Town Pasadena...

WOOHOO!! I'm so glad Apple is not ignoring one of the largest malls in the country - Woodfield! Seeing as it's just a stone's throw from my house, I could see it becoming a fun little place to visit, maybe even find employ some summer. I've never seen one of these fabled monster.com job pages (the one on the first post is broken now), but could this have something to do with it? http://jobsearch.monster.com/jobs/11...bsearch.monste r.com/jobsearch.asp?cy=US&brd=1&lid=417&fn=44&q=

Just a quick FYI, Littleton, Colorado is in the big rectangle fo a state next to the one you have it marked in :-) (For reference, Littleton is in the southern part of Metro Denver, or about 10 or so miles south from the city of Denver, and about 50 miles north of Colorado Springs.

It may not be something that any one outside of eastern Pennsylvania knows, but my hometown, Reading, is the "outlet capital of the world." It seems reasonable, therefore, that Apple should open an outlet center in Reading.

There is no way that memphis could support an apple store. First of all, it's a dump. Second of all, they have one mac store (opus 2 ). They are thieves and run a shoddy operation. And don't appear to get much business anyway (most likely because of the previous sentence). Actually, most of those southern cities may fall into the same class. St. Louis would be a better rumor.

Dallas!!!! Forget Dallas!! HOUSTON needs an Apple Store! Doggone it! C'mon Apple-HOUSTON!!!!!
I've got the perfect location-Memorial City Mall, I-10 and Gessner Rd. It's undergoing a major renovation, centrally located; no major computer stores nearby (unless you count a crappy "Gateway Country" a few miles down the road, or Circuit City/Best Buy...naah, they don't count)
Best of all, it's quite nearby my home
I want a part time job there-with a nice hardware discount
C'mon Apple! I know you read these forums. Play nice!

What about Austin? Given the huge Apple corperate presence in Austin, the location of a BIG Apple friendly university, lots of rich people, State government, etc. it seems logical that Apple would have a store here.
Not sure where they would put it though. The AppleInsider article from a long time ago had them in negotiations with the Gateway Center, but I don't know. Somewhere in the Arboreatum or Barton Creek might make more sense. Or Downtown, offer to buy the Intel building, get major tax credits and lots of attention.

Has anyone mentioned this link?
http://www.thinksecret.com/features/...oreupdate.html
Let's hope that Apple makes some relaly big product announcements at MacWorld/NY to fill the Apple Store. Running a store with 5 main products (G4, PBook, iBook, iMac, and Cube) doesn't make sense (even if you add in 3rd party hw/sw). They must have some big product plans.
Well, let's hope they do.
