I swear quark runs their FTP site off a 28.8K modem. Download should be done in about 14,000 days and 1 hour.

Other people have suggested that for the installer to work, the application must still be named "QuarkXPress" and be in a QuarkXpress 5.0 folder. Though I meet these requirements, my installer doesn't work.
I'll try the 12 MB download from the Quark site instead of versiontracker's.

I also read it needs to be located in the original install location...so maybe move the quark folder to the root of your hard drive?

I've tried three different downloads on a QuarkXPress folder in three different places: Desktop, root (HD level) and in Applications. No go.

Someone over at versiontracker posted that if you had changed the memory allocation for Quark then the updater wouldn't run. Perhaps that's what's getting you, Timo.

I remember going from Quark 4.0 to it's updates sometimes I had to hold down the option key when locating the original app. Maybe that's the trick. I'm only using 4.11 here. Let us know how many bugs this updater fixxes and what those bugs were (since I have no idea other than one major one having to do with appletalk).

A few people at VersionTracker have also suggested reinstalling QuarkXPress from the original disc before updating. Sounds like the same kind of fun that had previously be reserved for Microsoft Windows users.

OK, I deleted the "5.0" from my folder name, as suggested above:

Thanks for the head's up on the file names.

The installer won't see my classic partition when I try to run the installer in OS X Classic. Don't feel like rebooting right now. Semi-lame.
