Making the thread so I can have a dumb title.
I'm pretty sold on it. Lucky for me I don't have any balance complaints, I just think there should be a mode where you can't pick multiple of the same character.

It's fun no doubt, and runs melted butter smooth. I just feel it's a little light on the content to justify full game price.
I'm mulling it.

My pitch is this: Free content for the foreseeable future. It's $48 now or $16 a year if we keep going back for 3 years.
I just don't see any other game that's as easy to jump in and out of. PS2 is cool but it's still a chore.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Well the big one is No Man's Sky in late June. Not to mention Far Harbor is dropping for F4 soon (and I already bought the pass). I feel like I've barely played Rainbow Six: Siege, Rocket League still entertains me, and F4 has plenty yet to be wrung out of it.
I really do want to buy Overwatch, I've hovered on Amazon, but with No Man's Sky just a month later and BF1 in the fall I feel like Overwatch will be a bit of a bastard child in my library.
Also, I have zero interest in the unlocks (sprays, logos, poses, and emotes) so loot boxes are quite literally useless as a game mechanic to me.
What it boils down to is I already own a perfect trifecta of new-ish games. Fallout 4 for SP, Rocket League for quick MP, Planetside for large-scale MP. I can see Rocket League as a quick casual part of my gaming for the foreseeable future, Fallout 4 will be replaced by No Man's Sky, and PS2 will eventually give way to BF1 in the fall.
I'll mull some more.

No Mans Sky is good argument. I forgot that existed. Oddly I have zero hype for it.

So Dakar, what were your impressions?
I got in 16 hours. Didn't play all Heroes. Most time was spent with Junkrat who I enjoyed immensely. But if we measure success in terms of gold medals, then Lucio comes top. Nearly 3 hours played, 24 games and 36 gold medals.
I enjoyed Reinhardt, except when team-mates weren't protecting my flanks, Soldier 76 was very easy to use, Roadhog not bad, especially when he ults. And in terms of k/d, I did best with Widowmaker but I didn't use her too much. I wish that I was good enough to play McCree, his hammer-fan move is very satisfying. Zenyatta was OK. Bastion is alright but gets owned with decent Widows and Hanzos.
I didn't enjoy : D Va, Mei or Genji. Probably a skill issue with Genji and D Va.
I hated : Zarya - too bloody complicated. Hats off to those that play her well.
Didn't play Hanzo, Reaper or Symmetra IIRC.

This was a very good game but I played it so much in the alpha and closed beta that I got bored with it, doesn't help that the toxic "get good" kids in the open beta make it virtually unplayable.

Interesting. Its supposed to be a team-based game as well. I felt the same about solo, although in the past few days I've picked up 30 odd friends on Battle.net
Onlywatch for 14 days. Pity they couldn't leave the Player vs. AI stuff up so I could practice being a Ninja.

I imagine ranked will weed-out the worse players. My biggest complaint about the player base from the beta is the AFKers, and apparently there was no idle kick in the console versions.
---
To answer your call for a more elaborate post above, my biggest request for the main game is to change UI to show your team on the main screen, so you know who the hell is alive. Often I'll retreat three players on our team are respawning, rather than try to solo an enemy team.
I do find Bastian frustrating, but I feel like the biggest issue with him is Bastian spam. One Bastian I can find a way to take out. Two or three I can't. If a nerd was needed I think his pin-point accuracy at range would likely need to be altered so there was some spread; Alternatively, I would change his swivel to 270º – players aren't rewarded for flanking Bastian since he can still murder them.
The characters I didn't figure out before the beta ended: Genji (was showing signs of life on this – his reflect is good counter to Bastian), Zarya, Pudge. Suddenly grasped Zenyatta sunday, and understood the rhythm with Reaper and McCree monday.
My other big complaint is the mechanics on KOTH: You should not accrue point while its being contested. I figure rout this is the reason so many games go into 99% OT – it won't accrue the final 1% while contested.

They've finally figured out that Bastion is mad OP, nerfbat inc. Fun while it lasted, though.

Doubt they'll nerf Bastion. Anyone above level 10 knows how to counter.

If you're wondering what the eager fan base has been doing to kill time until release, its mostly creating NSFW fan art of the female protagonists.

Been overdosing on Tips, tricks, and howtos of the various heroes. Watched a few of the past tournaments as well.
Interesting to see the 'pros' team setup : 2 Reinhardts, 2 McCrees and 2 support (they seem to like Mercy the most because of her damage boost, although there ar ethe Lucios for the speed boost and his ult). Although some teams changed hero during the game.
On Kings Row one team all started as Hanzo, did the scatter arrow thing and then while still in spawn, switched. The other team were well prepared though, everyone was behind Reinhardt's sheild up against a wall.
A Cloud9 match even had Seagull using Bastion, rare in pro-circles.
McCree is the most used high-damage hero though.

Went home at lunch because this has 10 GB patch. That's bigger than the beta with all the characters and maps! Plus the disc install. I'm guessing better textures but otherwise IDK

Oh, the NeoGAF Overwatch thread has more pages in the 24 hours of prerelease than the NeoGAF battle born thread has since release. Ouch.

Wow, somehow I suddenly understand how to use heroes I couldn't before. Was getting crushed on a payload game and then I switched to Zarya and just became a human roadblock for most of the rest of the game. Pushed the payload from just barely off the final cap back like 20m. Captured a lot of good gameplay I think.
Somehow solving Tracer became super obvious. Roadhog just shits on her.

McCree is my goto Tracer counter, but I think that's pretty standard.

He'll be nerfed. Too many pros use him, all the time. Great fun against tanks.
Played Mei in KOTH, went three rounds. Got 30 kills for 9 deaths. She was great fun.
Tried Hanzo. Didn't hit shit.
Tried Genji. No idea how players like Seagull can make him move so fast, they must replace keyboards every month. Fun though when you get that Swift Strike kill.
Did a Bastion, Reinhardt, Mercy combo for defence on Gibraltar. They didn't get past the second corner. Can't say I enjoy playing Mercy.
I should goto bed before I see that its 2am.

So far I guess he's been my main, he and Winston are my two favorites. He's practically face-roll easy to play well but wicked hard to play at the top ranks, very challenging against good support.

Tried a bit of sniping last night after watching some vidsof sniper spots on the various maps. Went 22-2 on Hollywood, then 21-1 on Volskaya. Got the 20 kill streak icon. If I can do that with her, she's overpowered. She can deal it out up close with her fully-auto gun, plus the spider mine, plus a very impressive grapling hook. And the ult (wall hacking) comes up really quick.
Wonder if they'll look into nerfing her as well.

Haven’t posted about the game because I haven’t been on my MacBook in ages to post a long-form reply, but I’m sneaking in a txt>email>phone reply.
Love the game, but the thing I’m realizing early on is that my ceiling in this game is a lot lower than I’m used to. It makes sense. I keep seeing it referred to as an 'arena shooter’ which in the past referred to games I have no interest in like Quake or Unreal. The saving grace for me is the game relies more heavily on strategy, counter-picks, and console plays slower, preventing me from being the absolute disaster I might be. Right now I can’t snipe for shit – widow maker, hanzo… and I’m not too good with those guys who require quick wits and good aim like a genji or mccree.
Playing with premades, I did wreck shop with Torb to the tune of a 21 kill streak. Pretty gross. Next closest after that is Bastion at 16 with a D. Va next door, so at least that’s respectable. My windiest characters are Bastion & Torb, but I use them situationally (Bastion moreso). After that its Lucio, Roadhog (!), Zenyatta, and Symmetra. I’ve managed to turn around a few games I got dropped into late with Lucio, which is immensely satisfying.
I’ve also become a very competent Reaper. Constantly flanking and teleporting, suiciding on occasion to disrupt Bastion or Torb. Release players have been far smarter than beta players, yet most still get caught off guard by Reaper flanks on Volskaya Industries (you can teleport around the choke point and directly take the point, which will usually be empty). Had a game the other night where me and two tracers ran the flank and the enemy team literally didn’t leave the choke while we capped it. Bizarre.
Unlocks have been fair if a little light. Got a legendary for Symmetra and Mercy, and the perfect rare for S76.
Playing with pubs is the usual mixed bag. If I see some real dumb shit in the prep phase I’ll quit out with no compunction.
So far Anubis seems to be the easiest map to defend, followed by either numbani or hollywood. Anubis B seems to be the hardest nut to crack, but if a team caps A early enough they’ll usually pull it off. In the case of Numbani or Hollywood, it feels like you’re more likely to stop them from unlocking the payload rather than stopping them from getting to the destination.
As far as character balance, I have no issues with the characters powers, only that stacking them seems to imbalance the game. If you’re trying to fight off three bastions, three tracers or three genjis does not solve your problems. Though I do admit I shut down a multi-reaper team with one Torb turret. Can’t sneak up on me now, ****er!

All the good players must be out enjoying the sun, got a 32-0 and my first 5 gold medals game (not at the same time).
Blizzard have stressed that Level <> skill, and I am the proof, tonight was me (level 28/29/30) with others players all less than 20. Everytime.
