OK, I could just be having this problem because I am a knucklehead, but I have set up a workflow in Automator to rename a batch of files. When I run it (I've tried it both as a Finder plug in and a drag-and-drop application) it shows that it's thinking about it in the menu bar, but when I open the folder, nothing has changed.
Can anyone clue me in?

You have to wait until it has finished renaming. It is NOT INSTANT as Apple have claimed. I renamed some 400 images and it took around 1-2 minutes possibly.

You're right, it's not instant, but when I was renaming ~500 images it took seconds, not minutes.
Anyway, as you would expect, this depends on the speed of your machine.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot again.
FWIW, I'm on a dual 1.8 G5.

Can you describe exactly how you have the Workflow set up?

I tried it again, waited over an hour, and still no luck.

Since I'd probably never describe it correctly, I tossed it on my iDisk here.

Replace your first action, "Get Specified Finder Items" with "Get Selected Finder Items". If you're running it from Automator, make sure the folder is selected in the finder. If saving as a plug-in, the contextual item should just work.

Still no dice. I tried it as a Contextual Item and as an application. I also tried it by selecting the folder in the Finder, and ran it from Automator. When I did that, it seemed to actually be doing something, and made the little noise when it was through. But still, it didn't work.
