My PS went out on Saturday and I took it into my local dealer for service. Assuming it's only the PS, how much can I expect to pay to have it replaced?

How did you diagnose that it was the PS that went out?
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

I didn't. Upon first glance, shop felt that was the cause. When I push the power button, all I hear is a single click (like a relay-type click) but computer doesn't power up. There is also a smoky smell in the back.

I work there. Should I assume you are out of warranty?

Yes, out of warranty. Now appears is one of the processors, not the PS.

My G5's power supply went out a couple of weeks ago (under warranty still). And while they were replacing it they also decided it needed one of the processors replaced as well. I wonder if they normally go out together. This was actually the second power supply replacement for me. I have had a TON of hardware issues with both my G5 and Powerbook....

This is my first hardware issue in the 5 Macs I've owned (although I had a logic board replaced under warranty on my Performa 6290).
