Depending on what you do, the money may be better spent on memory.

what black macbook- the 1000 one, or the 1499 one?
If its the 1000 refurbished one, get the refurb macbook pro for 350 more. 128MB video graphics, single SODIMM 512 stick for easy upgrading. 2GHz core duo
If its the expensive black one, id reccomend getting that pro one too.
Since im cheap, i prefer the 1.83GHz white macbook core duo.

I would say get a Macbook Pro, for the 15" screen and more power.

Totally depends on what you're doing. If screen size is an issue, you plan on 3d gaming, 3d graphics, Intense video editing (i.e. Final Cut Pro) Then I'd go for the Macbook. I do just about everything on mine. I got the 1299 Macbook and Ive edited videos in imovie, make music with Ableton Live, browse the web, e-mail, tunes, and even run Photoshop CS3 beta without any hassle. Id say the gap isn't that large unless you really really need it. Save some of that dough and get Apple Care, or some software.
