I mean the pointer, I can still move the pointer but I can't presay open a file or close a window

Is it a multi button mouse? Do the other buttons work? If so, it may be a broken switch under the LM, if it is a Apple mouse try it on another computer if you have the chance. Try to pair the bluetoothmouse with the bluetooth hardware in the Mac again.
