I'm looking at getting dish network for TV and verizon DSL for internet instead of cable for both. The total cost of both for the plans I want is only $65 a month which can't really compare to Ygnition's $90+.

Anyone heard great or horrible things about Dish Network? Is the outage during storms really bad? Thanks!

I have Dish Network. Has it ever cut out? Yes, but only in major snow storms like any other dish would. Otherwise it has been perfect.

I've had it. Living in the south we get a lot of heat related issues and thunderstorms causing the dish to cut-out. Unfortunately this usually happened during the last 10 laps of a race.

I went back to cable. (Besides the cable modem service was handy). The picture on cable from 2-99 is horrific but it doesn't cut out.

I've had it for at least 8 years now. We experience outages only in serious, thick, nasty snowstorms. Never have had problems with rain.

Customer service has always been stellar, IMHO.

The programming is great except for the lack of NFL Sunday Ticket.

i too am dish network subscriber. won't over go back to cable

my southwestern view is pretty blocked, but am able to lock onto 110, 119 and 129 pretty damn good. i go out more often then those with better views, but the channels and HD i get for make up for the 'almost always on working cable TV solution'.

i don't mind losing the picture on the more windy days.

If your dish is well oriented, you will lose signal for 10-15 min during real bad storms. That's it.

Which is ok, unless it's at the end of a show or the last few laps of a race.

I have Dish.

It's okay, nothing special, nothing terrible. Overall, better than cable in my experience. I've never had a prolonged outage in the 5 years I've had it, but on occasion we'll get annoying glitches where the satelite has to reaquire the signal and it interrupts the show for about 3 seconds. Rare, but it does happen.
