Weird. Is it something to do with air conditioning?

I know a bug is going around here because of the rain we've been getting. People living in Tucson are generally maladapted to any type of moisture, so colds are everywhere.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

Lots of people with summer colds in San Diego too. I was just thinking the other day how odd it was.

Because the air is warmer + any moisture from the rain, so the viruses can grow better?

Unusually I have a cold at the mo (don't usually get one in the summer). but it might be to do with the fact that the UK has just had the wettest July on record.
It's looking up though that dam Rianna 'Umbrella' track is no longer at number 1 and we have had a few days without torrential rain.

Yeah, no sh!t.

I have the heat in my office cranked up higher than in the winter. If not, it'll be 60F when I come in in the morning. Stupid A/C fetish in the US. And a farkin' waste of energy

Cold air doesn't cause colds. Viruses do. My guess is that people become more social in the nice weather, shake hands, hug etc...

That explains why typically, colds are more common in winter...

lol

I havent been sick in over a year. Not even a runny nose and I ALWAYS get sick at least 3 times a year, usually once is pneumonia or at least the flu & with a nose as big as mine even a little cold is dreadful.

My advice, lots of B12 and B6. (about 20,000%) Really the only thing I've changed in my lifestyle. Otherwise I cant explain it.

Actually cold dry air from an A/C dries out your mucus membranes and leaves you more vulnerable to infection, not to mention some indoor areas haven't cleaned all the sh!t out of their vents in decades.

I work outside in dirty conditions all summer and I couldn't be more healthy.

I don't see how catching a cold could have anything to do with air conditioning. You catch colds from touching a virus and then touching your face.

Actually so called 'summer colds' are actually allergies not viral type 'winter colds' the symptoms are the same but coughing usually lasts longer and most get mucus build up. Nothing more to do than take Claritan or Allegra to relive the symptoms. As the pollen and pollution have been increasing around the world those not usually getting 'summer colds' find themselves getting them for the past 5 years.

Add me to the list. This is the first summer cold I've had for as long as I can remember. I'm sure it is from my wife, who works summer school for k-6. She had it before I did. rugrats are a haven for spreading viruses.

I'm very sure it's not allergies. I have had allergies for 20 years and never get a sore throat from pollen.

You can get a sore throat from allergies, pollution, and such in the summer.

you forgot to quote the part where I say I've had allergies for 20 years. I know my allergies well. This is not pollen, it is a cold.
