This is very bad

My external firewire hard drive is not being recognized in system 10.2 after I had a power outage. The hd makes a little noise when powering it back on and a display window says that it isnt being recognized and I can choose initialize or ignore. Using disk utility won't do anything either!

Is there anyway I can repair it somehow so I get my data back? It should still be there, I just can't view it....

PLMK with any ideas so that I can use it once again.

Its around 35 gigs I will have lost. Inc. all my art projects, many apps, mp3's and more.

bye - thanks.

Have you attempted to repair the drive in OS 9? My FireWire hard drive gave me similiar errors once. I booted into 9, ran Disk First Aid and that solved it's problems.
