This may be my first thread locked for reasons other than a duplicate topic but I'm still curious so I'll see if the mods are feeling magnanimous today...

Who's on your ignore list?

Here's mine:

I don't have anyone on my ignore list. Why would I need to be oversensitive? Its the equivalent of covering yours ears and humming when you don't like whats being said.

Ignore lists are a powerful tool, though.

You could block out half the forum by ignoring Zimpi and MOS / gorickey

Agreed. Why come and read what others are saying if you just censure their words because you do not agree with them?

It's not that I don't agree. Otherwise, the list would be a lot bigger if that were the case. I usually ignore someone when they never seem to post anything of substance or they used to and stopped doing so. For me, there's a difference between disagreeing with a statement because of its content and ignoring a statement because it's not constructive.

Then by your own words, if you count out the people that are just throwing up +1's and other things, why dont you have more people on your list?

*sigh* It's habitual ones that make it on. Like people posting 20+ times a day of nothing but junk. You'll notice the last two are from both sides of the isle.

It is funny when you read a thread in the lounge and it consists of two people on your ignore list replying to each other, seeing a screen full of the ignore prompts.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Just one. He's been here a long time, he posts A LOT. It's nothing personal, I've never tangled with him myself. I actually feel sorry for him. It's just his posts are, always, utterly moronic, truly inane, and there's so much of it.... I keep him on ignore just to speed things up. Thank god he cares about his post-count so I can screen him out...

Me neither. It's pointless. And I know that I would read the blocked posts anyway out of curiosity. I don't have any reasons to ignore anyone here.

Nobody. There are a few people whose posts I only skim through at the most, but ignoring someone seems a bit silly.

No one.
I don't understand the point of it. You put someone on your ignore list because they used to post interesting stuff then changed to just being stupid. How do you know they haven't changed back?
Plus I can generally tell from scanning a post whether or not it's a waste of my time. If it's not...then I'll ignore it.

I've also gone to manual ignoring again, since most of the people I had on the list aren't really posting much or at all anymore.

Ahhh, matthew_M. What ever happened to that maroon? He was a hoot.

You just made it on to my ignore lost, along with UNTImac.

Who, or what actually won the US election? Intolerance. The Bush campaign was built around pushing God down people's throats; attacking Gays; and more Guns for the idiotic. Gays, Guns & God. Congratulations, you just participated in one big joke.

119 members right now. If I could add one particular mod it would have been a nice 120, but I can't .

There are only about 2 ways you can really get on the list. I don't mind retardism as long as its funny and not over done. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, either. Pretty much, just saying or doing or supporting one of the 2 things is the way to get ignored.

Every so often I cull my ignore list. I sometimes browse ignored comments to see who has redeemed themselves. I'm not sure who still has an active account or not, as some of the names I have not seen in a while. I wish there was some way to automatically check and remove names no longer in use/banned/etc.

I don't think the ignore list is for those oversensitive. I just think it's a nice way to wade through a lot of crap.

And yes, I browse slashdot at +5.

Only idiots have huge ignore lists.

And some people who say they have people on ignore also lie, because they do indeed read comments incase it is addressed to them, then they make believe that they have that person on ignore and take some screenshot and post it showing who is on ignore. Then they'll proceed to read the next comment from the "ignored" person.

I bet some asshats who have me on ignore even read this. That's right, you asshat, I am talking about you, you specifically.

My ignore list consists of the post whores (those that don't know how to use the edit button and post 5 or more times in a row) as well as those who are constantly rude and abrasive regardless of whether I agree with what they are saying or not.

I'm not on that list? I'm appalled.

Anyway what does that +5 slashdot thing mean ?
All the posts on the Slashdot forums are moderated, and given a scare, from 1 to 5. 5 being insightful, or really funny. You can set what posts you want to see, and which you don't according to a filter value.

This guy probably sees 10% of slashdot, which is good.. cus, there are so many stupid things sometimes.
