Doesn't look like anyone is interested in being involved with Disney's continuation of the Toy Story series without Pixar.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,145561,00.html

Hopefully they just scrap the project. (Wishful thinking)

Pixar just received four Oscar nominations for its current Disney-distributed film, "The Incredibles." "Cars" will mark the last collaboration between the two studios, since Disney's Michael Eisner has essentially told Pixar to take a hike.

Cars looks absolutely like a toddler's movie.

I am not commenting on whether it is good or bad but at ths point I would not see it.

Disney needs to lay off the Sequals. Looks like they are desperate.

Releasing "Made for Video Sequels" is exactly that!

The product is not strong enough for a theater release but they still yearn for a profit.

I love this... nobody wants to come back to do Toy Story 3 without Pixar. I like how Disney doesn't get to keep the models and junk for it... I imagine if Disney really wants to do this they're gona have to grovel to Stevey boy

Neither would I - since it's not finished yet.

What about another Fairy Tale? Disney hasn't produced a fairy tale since Beauty and the Beast.

I will base my decision of whether or not to see it using the same guides I do for other movies; reviews, trailers, word-of-mouth. Not on some sort of blind tangential loyality to Apple.

Loyalty to Apple has nothing to do with it. Pixar moies are great because of the complete package. Disney hasn't made a good animated film in many years. That is what I would base that on. PIxar is what 6 for 6 in blockbuster hits in recent years. What was the last Disney hit? If pixar is not involved I'm not going to see it.

If Pixar's lowest-grossing film (1998's A Bug's Life, $162.8 million) is the mark to beat, then 1999's Tarzan ($171.1 million) is the answer. Four of Pixar's 6 movies have made over $200 million (Toy Story made $191.8 million). Only two animated Disney movies (The Lion King and Aladdin) surpassed that mark.

Sadly, the name might bring in the numbers . There are morons out there who think ANYTHING animated is Disney.

Disney wouldn't have the problems they've been having in the last 10-15 years if Eisner hadn't layed off or alienated every talented person in the company.

I am still shocked that they pulled off PotC, though.

I wonder if this would even be an issue at a Mac board if there was no connection between Apple and Pixar. One could replace "Pixar" with "Apple" and "Disney" with "Microsoft" and the conversation would look exactly the same.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Of course it would. Forget box-office stats -- here are the Pixar and non-Pixar Disney movies since 1998:

Pixar
A Bug's Life
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc.
Finding Nemo
The Incredibles

Non-Pixar
Mulan
Tarzan
Fantasia 2000 (IMAX only)
The Emperor's New Groove
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Lilo and Stitch
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Home on the Range

Pixar has been consistently good (and often great) while the non-Pixar movies have been decidedly hit-or-miss (mostly misses). Why look for pro-Apple bias?

I'm a huge disney fan, but they have been making crap movies lately. I'd love to see Toy Story 3, but only if Pixar makes it! Every other disney movie since The Lion King has been pretty much crap. (Tarzan was ok.)

I kinda noticed the move away from fairy tales as well....or at least that template anyway. I always attributed it to the fact that the medium changed from 2D to 3D, but your take on it seem to make sence as well. I wonder, if Pixar/Don Bluth/Dreamworks tried to make the first full-3D animated fairytale, would it be a success? I'd bet it would be, but this topic is worthy of a poll.

Intereting stuff.

Cheers

Any Disney sequel these days would suck bad--bad, bad bad. It would ruin the good name of Toy Story.

Pixar has still not signed with anyone else, so there's still a chance that they might get back with Disney, but probably not while the current management is still in charge.

They would have to devise there own (Shrek for example of a new fairy tale). Disney just spent years strip-mining the world for suitable fairy tale's as the basis for there animated movies.

I hope not either but all we've seen are a teaser trailer. The treaser trailer for Monster's Inc never made it into the final movie.
