Recently I've been keeping Gmail open in the first tab of my Safari window and I noticed something odd. On my Pismo, the tab will say something like "Gmail - Inbox (136)" (with the number being the number of unread messages -- I use Gmail mostly for mailing lists and not personal mail). However, on my other computers, it just says "Gmail" which isn't nearly as useful. Gmail will periodically refresh itself without you having to do anything, so if the number is displayed, it's easy enough to see if you have any new mail without switching to the Gmail tab. I'd like my other computers to display it in this manner too, but I can't figure out what the difference is between Safari on my Pismo and on the other computers. It doesn't seem to matter how many tabs I have open, and they are all running more or less up to date versions of Tiger. Anyone have any idea? What does your Gmail tab say?
