I was going to sell both of my iPods (I won one via the iTunes 100 Million contest, as most of you know, and I got one for $60 via Cram and Jam), but I'm starting to rethink my decision...

I've become very into music, and I keep finding myself bringing my PowerBook out into the common room, so that I can listen to iTunes while I read. It would be a lot more practical to just use an iPod! Plus, I thought I'd always have my PowerBook with me, but many times I leave it in my room, and even if it is with me, do I really want to whip it out to listen to some tunes? There's also the battery life issue with the PowerBook...

A while ago, I posted about not having a use for an iPod, but now I do...

...there's just one problem.

Where do I put it? I keep my cell phone, wallet, and keys in my pocket. Things dangle around like crazy, and my old cell phone got horribly scratched (I got a case for the new one). I could move everything to my left pocket, and keep the iPod in the right pocket, but for some reason, having things in my left pocket, or any other pocket (other than my right pocket), is very uncomfortable for me. Perhaps I could get used to it, but I'm not sure. It's just so uncomfortable. I refuse to put keys, wallet, etc. in my backpack, because my backpack is not always with me.

Doh! Where do the rest of you keep your iPods?

I have an outside zipped chest pocket outside my regular jacket and I use the cellphone pocket when wearing my suede jacket. Otherwise it's in my right pant pocket or stored in a slot in my bag.
Yose.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I don't usually wear a jacket, I don't have room in my right pant pocket, and I definitely don't want it in my bag!

my pockets:

left pocket: iPod, cell phone

right pocket: keys, school ID, headphones, loose change, any other misc. stuff

back-right pocket: wallet.

Works well enough; never bothers me, nothing gets scratched/damaged.

You keep your money in three separate pockets?? Why not just put all your money in your wallet, and be done with it?

I have a Scott E-vest - it has more than 40 pockets. It's designed to carry electronics, you run wires through the lining into the pockets, and it has loops in the collar for holding earbuds. You can carry a lot of stuff in this jacket without looking like the Michelin Man.

Left pocket, tissue (if having allergies), iPod Mini (if out, and I have an iSkin case for it). Right pocket has keys and change. Wallet in back, cell phone on belt clip.
If out with the regular iPod, I'll also keep it in the left pocket, or more likely, in a backpack, gym bag, briefcase, etc.

The belt clip is a good idea. Or get a bag like the crumplers.

Honestly, the iPods are small. If you can't figure out one, then you may have bigger troubles than just figuring out your iPod placement.

At the very least, sell your iPods and buy a Mini.

it all really depends on how drunk i am. i dunno, but the coins and the bills do definitely stay separate. sometimes the cash is in the back pocket with the wallet and sometimes its in the front with the phone.

in all honesty, it floats, but all i know is that the iPod goes in the back left alone and the 'phones come up around the back.

I have had 2 systems that worked well for me. I've got an original 20Gig iPod (yeah, a brick).

The first method was I used a common cell phone belt clip with an adhesive button that I attached to the back of the iPod. I then got a silicone cover for the pod and cut our the back of it to accomodate the button.

Eventualy the button came loose.. so I got an xSkn that came with a belt clip. Instead of the relatively flimsy custom clip however I used the screw mount to attach the standard cell phone button to the back of it. It has been working well.

The advantage of the cell phone system is you can also use it with your phone, and if you loose the clip you can pick one up anywhere.

I also have the Incase single strap backpack for my 15" powerbook. When I'm carrying that I can clip either my phone or the iPod to the strap, and it is very convienient.

You can also buy extra backpack straps that'll fit a Mini or regular iPod. Can usually get them at a wallet shop or outdoor outfitters shop.

Thing with me is that when it's not jacket season, I only have two pockets to choose from. I never keep anything in my back pockets, just hate the feeling of sitting on a wallet as I haven't used a wallet for over 5 years. I keep my cards and money in a money clip or very thin wallet in my front right pocket, along with any change i have and keys, and my iPod and maybe a pack of gum in my left pocket. Have been good at avoiding a cell phone for the past 2 years so I haven't ever had to deal with it and my iPod...so I'm not sure what I'd do then. Probably move the wallet to the back pocket, but I wouldn't be happy about it.

One good thing about the iPod in my front pocket of jeans or cords is that I dont even need to take it out to switch songs or adjust volume, the touch sensitivity works through the material.
