While I really like Panther, I can't stand the brushed metal texture in the Finder. I was ok with the metal in ichat and itunes in jaguar (actually i kind of liked it), but the metal thing is kind of getting old. Any ideas on how to remove the metal from the Finder? It would be nice to replace it with a shade of grey (like in Apple's pro apps)...

It's easy to remove the brush metal texture. Just download Themepark and Duality. Themepark is buggy in panther, so beware. Unlike others, I never had a problem with Duality.

Anyway, some of you know I'm starting to get into GUI customization, so here is panther without the brush metal texture which I dislike for the finder as well. I think my theme works great with Apple's overall metal theme. Check it out with iSync and Calculator.

Yes, I have the fishy screensaver running in the background. Most of the time it's only using less than 20% of the processor. More like dual processor.

You still get that gradient that messes with themes, and you can't have any colors in the texture. If you ask me I think the Unsanity haxie will be the way to go.
