When I print something, it puts a strange shadow offset behind each letter on the page. I'm not using any special styles on the text and the font is just Helvetica 12. I've printed to 2 different Laserwriters with the same results. I been through the various print and page setup menus to verify my settings. Anybody else seen this? How can I solve this problem (short of switching over to Word98- Arrrgh!!!)?
ClarisWorks prints OK, Word98 prints OK, what's up with this Appleworks???

You have tried just copying and pasting into a new document, right?

I haven't tried a copy/paste, though I should have. What I did try is typing some jibberish on a totally new document, and it prints this shadowing effect just the same. So my observation was that this was an application-wide effect, not just the particular document I was working on. Tomorrow, I'm gonna try printing with MacOS extensions only enabled to see if that does anything different.

Turns out it is the Kaleidoscope v.2.3 extension set . When disabled, Appleworks printouts are fine. Will see if 2.3.1 updater makes any difference...
