I'm suprised there are still people who don't have these. I have had 5 invites sitting in my account for 2-3 months and no one wants them.

does anyone know how the invites get doled out? Right after i got invited this September I got my invites replentished but now I haven't gotten any in the past month. Does it give you invites based on how many people you added to your 'contacts' or based on number of emails you send, or number of times you login? Did anyone trace a pattern to the invite algorithm yet?

He did set-up an account from the Gmail invite I sent him, so it must have gone through I guess.

Is that useful anymore with Gmail supporting POP access directly anyway?

yes. the point of gmail is to use it like imap, and archive all the non-junk mail. i don't want to download it into mailbox files on my computer.

anyway, gcount still works for me under 10.3.6.

Yes, it's off topic for the Software forum. It's on topic for the Lounge: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=226909

Shouldn't this be in the lounge?

But to swerve things back on course; I tried out a couple of those apps that monitor your gmail for you, but found that they stopped working after a few hours, anyone else find this? I put my gmail bookmark onto F7 now using Butler which is speedy anyway so I'm not too bothered.

If you're using Firefox, there's this extension called Gmail Notifier, which works great.

Anyone know why gmail only loads like half the time? One half the time, I get a little read 'loading' in the left of the screen. When it's on the right, (the other half of the time), it loads my inbox.

WTF?

It's because their support for Safari is crap. Try any other browser and you shouldn't see this.

you can work around this by hitting reload when it happens, NOT by going to the bookmark again.

Just wait until Safari 1.3 is out. Gmail doesn't work AT ALL there.
