Hey,
I've seen mention of this problem here and there and I just can't figure it out.

My iMac won't sleep when it is left idle for a period of time designated in Energy Saver. The screen goes out, the drive spins down, but no pulse sleep at all.

This is the case with OS9.1 and with 9.0.4 and, yesterday, I even reformatted my drive, zeroed all data, and reinstalled OS 9 from the CDs that came with the machine. And, still NO SLEEP.

May sound minor, but when I run a backup, I don't like to wake in the morning to find the iMac still humming. Any conflicts you can think of? I have tried a lot of things already.

Thanks,
Storyboy

PS: The machine sleeps manually and also when scheduled to sleep at a certain clock-time.

ES gave me fits on my G3 running OS8.1 as well. I finally gave up on it after trying everything I could think of, and suggestions from others. I downloaded MacDim and it has worked flawlessly. I don't know if it runs on 9.x or not.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

Will MacDim--or any third party utility--induce pulse sleep? I've tried Sleeper and it only dims and stops the HD from spinning.

Thanks.
