Okay so I tried to make this sound like spam but it's not. I am utterly amazed at Apple.

I went to the store today and brought my 2.5 year old iBook with the logic board failing (5th time) and the genius sits there for 25 mins working on it. He finally said go look around the store and he'll be back. Well I go look at the iPhone (shock) and make a phone call from it and play around. He takes about 45 mins but comes back with a card and says they'll call me and tells me he upgraded my iBook to a new MacBook and above all the $1299 model. I was utterly suprised when he said they are custom configuring it and will send it in and it was brand new and not refurbished.

I love Apple! Makes me want to buy the iPhone to show my appreciation!

Wow, totally great!

And a well-deserved compensation for the torture-test of 5 major logic board failures!

VERY cool...very cool indeed!

It would be interesting to know if this was done because Apple is being cool to a loyal user or because state law says they have to replace it.

So you have the AppleCare protection plan for your iBook, right? My MacBook is nearly the end of it's one year warranty and I am seriously considering getting a protection plan after this.

Same thing happened to me last year... my iBook G3 had logic board problems so they gave me a new maxed out macbook worth well over the $849 I paid for mine 3 years ago.

Did you have Apple Care? How far were you into it? I know there were issues with the old G3/G4 logic boards.

I know you're excited and all, who wouldn't be, but I doubt Apple would appreciate you sharing this kind of information. I suppose your iBook was under the Apple Protection Plan?

Must have been under Applecare. Even so I had no idea they would replace units after one year. Good to know.

That is priceless. I like the ipod references in the Borat movie.
