I am looking to start playing online poker. What's the best Mac compatible site that you can play for real money with.

Be very careful and know your limits. I almost lost a good employee to an online gambling habit.

As Sealobo already said; "gambling sucks".

Here's an easier way to gamble. Paypal me $100. I might give it back. Or some of it. Or not.

Just as exciting, as I will send you random emails that get your hopes up too.

Full Tilt Poker has Mac client. I haven't tried the Poker Stars yet. I did not realize they had a Mac client.

I have about $50 bucks in my account at Full Tilt. I had it up to about $250 at one time. I haven't played much in the last couple of years but it looks to me like it is now a major pain in the ass to withdraw money now (at least in the US).

I agree with downinflames68. Gambling is for fools. Think about it for a second. They program their web site. So don't you think they'll program it in their favor. (I say this carelessly, but I believe it may be true).

Actually, they would be fools if they did NOT do it.

It would be leaving money on the table.

The poker site is not a participant in the game, so they can't profit through crafty programming. Furthermore, the number of people who play online poker is in the multi-millions and the the competition among the many sites is intense. Were any of them found to rig the games, players (and their money) would flock to competitors. It's in the site's interest to do nothing more than provide a level playing field.

It's also against the law in most places which allow hosing of such sites. Most licences to game require government inspection of the software every once in a while so as to ensure fairness for the punters.

A friend's boss programmed a bot to play online poker for him 24 hrs a day (back when online poker was new) and he paid off all of his school loans with the earnings.

They did not directly make gambling online illegal. They made it illegal for US financial institutions to conduct transactions with gambling sites. You have to go through a third party to get you money back from an online gambling site which is going to take a percentage of that.

Depending on the third party, they've made it illegal to transfer to some of them as well. For example, the last time I was aware, it was illegal of US financial institutions to transfer money to Neteller.
