Hey, I'm a recent convert to the mac platform, and my first mac ever was a 1 GHz powerbook i purchased not long ago. I wanted to do a little audio experimentation with Pro Tools Free, but I cannot find an Audio/Mic input on the computer.

My former PC machine had one right next to the video in, but the mac has neither.

How do I use a mic and/or audio in on the powerbook? Where is the input found?

Thanks!

you haven't got one.
They disappeared on Macs for a year and made their reappearance on the new powerbook 12" and 17".

May I recommend that you get an iMic?

Well thats a bunch of bullshit. Apple is gonna make us pay for a ****ing audio input?

This is the first dissapointing experience I've had with my mac.

There SHOULD be a line in jack on the back. The headphone jack is on the left side. The audio in jack should be in the back behind the door ,somewhere.

It isn't amplified, however, I don't think.

I'm mistaken.

look for a 1/8" minijack with an icon next to it of a circle with two triangles pointing in.

[>O<]

only with the triangles a solid black.

Apparently they added audio in jacks back on DVI equipped TiBook.
Sorry for the error.

Yes, his machine should have an audio-in, but the whole thing about removing them in the first place was totally misguided and dumb.
