Recently, a high school friend that i haven't seen for 23 years contacted me. She described her life with the song "Watching the wheels go by" by john lennon. it fits because she is (and was) a free spirit.
so just for fun, what song is the soundtrack to your life?
i'm still thinking...

While I live a somewhat simple life, I think it's still too complicated to be described by one song or even one album. Then again, maybe I just haven't heard "my song" or "my album" yet.

Never be rude to an Arab - Monty Python.
In all honesty, I have no idea. I'll think about it and get back to you.

Jury Duty: The OC Supertones off their Loud and Clear Album is the sound track to my life...
"I know I haven't had the best of days
But I want to stop and thank you anyway,
Every single moment whether sleeping or awake is your creation
I don't always thank you for the love taps and the hard times in my life
Even though I should"

This one:
Mitt Sjätte Sinne
Petter
-man kan ställa sig frågor
varför allting är i lågor
går fram och tillbaka
som vågor
-jag filosoferar funderar
varför vi existerar
varför jorden planeter
allting cirkulerar
materialistisk trygghet
det är så världen drivs
-slicka upp sparka ned
attityder poppar upp alltför ofta
jag vill slippa all stress bara softa
refr.
-vi har nått vår sista timme
jag ser skräck
mitt sjätte sinne är väckt
har vi nått vår sista timme
jag ser skräck
mitt sjätte sinne är väckt
-allting tär i min hjärna
min kärna
jag dyker som en tärna
men stannar under ytan
-under ytan är jag säker
såren läker
men vindar vänder
jag ser ondskans tänder
konflikter mellan länder
vad händer
har vi nått sista dan på vår kalender
för jag ser städer i bränder
-oskyldiga springer och flyr från tortyr
generaler som styr
ger order om likvidering
i denna skräckfyllda bild
har livet någon mening
-knappast vad fattas
när världen smälter universiellt
finansiellt
när soldater drar i fält
drabbar samman parallelt
med all ilska ondska
hat som har svält
-gå ridå? för korridor
mitt hjärta slår
och tankar som jag får
som går
-kombineras med allegorier
galna fantasier
och svåra melodier
en djupare betydelse
för livets strategier
-jag hatar våld och allt det står för
aggresiva filosofer
pressa mina gränser
och jag visar vad jag går för
-det är svårt att känna lycka
när allt börjar trycka
jag vill berusa mig själv
och aldrig mer nyktra
And YNWA of course.

That's not my point.
Most people here posted song titles that speak for themselves, without going into details what lies beneath it. So in this case, the Cure song's title goes against it the title "Never be rude to an Arab" (which, by the way, isn't meant exactly literal either), disregarding that there is a complete whole world of explanation and meaning behind it (drawing on Camus' book).
Did you know that the US used to play this song in Desert Storm via large PA systems to demoralize the Iraqi troops ? It didn't really matter what was behind that song, the line "Killing an Arab" was enought o be effective psych-war !
Ah well, let's just go on with our lives...

I was originally going to say Mad World but that seemed too morbid (recently a friend topped himself)
To pick just one song I guess the soundtrack of my life would have to be Depeche Mode's Enjoy the silence

Somewhere In Between - by Lifehouse
I can't be losing sleep over this no I can't
& now I cannot stop pacing
Give me a few hours
I'll have this all sorted out
If my mind would just stop racing
'Cause I cannot stand still
I can't be this unsturdy
This cannot be happening
This is over my head
But underneath my feet
'Cause by tomorrow morning
I'll have this thing beat
& everything will be back to the way that it was
I wish that it was just that easy
'Cause I'm waiting for tonight
Then waiting for tomorrow
& I'm somewhere in between
What is real & just a dream
What is real & just a dream
What is real & just a dream
Would you catch me if I fall out of what I fell in
Don't be surprised if I collapse
Down at your feet again
I don't want to run away from this
I know that I just don't need this
'Cause I cannot stand still
I can't be this so unsturdy
This cannot be happening
Yeah
'Cause I'm waiting for tonight
Then waiting for tomorrow
& I'm somewhere in between
What is real & just a dream
What is real & just a dream
What is real & just a dream
What is real & just a dream

Another entry:
Life's a piece of sh*t
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life...
<whistle>....

What do you mean 'defines your life'? Does this mean it has to be an anthem or something ala Queen?
