I use PhotoResuce and that puppy is down right scary on what it can pull off of my memory cards. I recommend that highly. I purchased the program because some pictures got corrupted on one my cards that went south. in running it, I saw it recover images that I had deleted long ago (and reformatted the card numerous times).

Which version did you get? Not sure if the 99 dollar version would be worth it.

What kind of reformat ? Overwriting with random 0s and 1s ? No way in heck it can recover from that.

Multiple reformats from the computer and/or the camera (both actually).
I generally don't zero out my memory cards, it makes absolutely no sense imho. I just either reformat them in the computer from time to time, or the camera. I generally stick with the camera lately.
The photos that got pulled back were from many, many, many reformats previously and many photos later.
