Don't upgrade to itunes 4.7.1.3 if you want to share music, and more than 5 people make connections to you throughout the day.

Apple has ruined the share feature (in order to stop programs like MyTunes) and limits 5 connections PER DAY, not at one time, like before.

Apple, why!? (rhetorical question)

<cries>

Yah, I said it was a rhetorical question, plus I said of programs like MyTunes.

bummer. what about for users connecting to other people? when im at the library i can pick up tons of users and listen to their library. are we limited to allowing 5 connections per day? or are we limited to 5 connections for us to use as well? did that make sense?

edit: im not even seeing this update in my software update. when did this update come out?

I think he means 5 people a day can listen to as much as your music as they want.

Rhetorical question or not, the question is still misdirected. You should be asking:

RIAA, why!?

It effects us for now too - if you want to get songs from a Windows iTunes share, and they already have had 5 connections that day, you are out of luck.

Even if someone connects just to see your music and disconnects, there goes 1 from the 5.

Wrong. The RIAA is after YOU. And me. And anyone who might have even accidentally heard a copy of something they didn't get a retail cut on.

It is NOT about the artists' rights. It is ALL ABOUT the RIAA having a chokehold on distribution.</rant>

Now, here's the deal with Apple. They don't want to look like they are helping people steal from the recording labels. And remember, the RIAA has sued little kids and dead folks, so Apple may have a point in looking very, very honest.

You might also want to consider that Apple happens to be the largest international distributor of downloadable music, by far.

All its label distro contracts hinge upon controlled distribution.
