Jaw, I really like #'s 3 and 4 in your last post, simply because I really enjoy black and white landscapes quite a bit. The vignette works well in #3 in that particular instance...the contrast is what draws me to that image.

In #4, the perspective is very nice. I'm a sucker for black and white + perspective shots.

Here is one of my favorites (that I have taken):

Thank you, harbinger. I'm in love with high-contrast black and whites too. I know he was extremely well-known, so this isn't exactly something new, but that's why I can never get enough to Ansel Adam's work.

Beautiful! You have to love a good sunset capture.

Great lens! One of the best ever made.
Mine survived quite a fall:

Nothing beats shooting with models though:

Thank you much!

I love when this thread gets revived every once in a while. I've seen a lot of these shots on Flickr; there are some really talented photographers here with accounts, so I'm always browsing through my contacts' newest photos.

Serious love for this thread.

Some of my favorite SCUBA pictures. I have in no way edited these photos, except for crops on a couple. All were done with my Canon IXUS 800 IS. Photos taken in Japan, New Zealand, Fiji, and Philippines.

And just because I really liked New Zealand.

Wow guys, just wow. Collectively and overall, you all have some great eyes for composition and color balance.

If it weren't so cold and crappy here, I'd love to go take some right now...

Here's one I took back in 2004 when I was on light duty at the fire department. I was tasked with snapping pictures at a training burn we did.

@Uriel
The second one is nice, but I think you should have used a flash (manually corrected to -1 or so) to brighten up the face. With this particular light, you'd have had an amazing picture.

I took those for the watch thread and figured I'd post them here since I like the depth of field.
If I remember correctly it was f1.8 with my 50mm.

Here are three examples of one series: the first one was taken without flash and the other two with flash of various strength. (It's right next to the Golden Gate Bridge, by the way )

No flash:

Strong flash:

Less flash:

So it depends on the look you want to go for. Oh, and don't judge my artistic abilities on these pictures

Lots of good pictures. But this one caught my eye:

I demand you adjust the rotation on this image and repost it. I demand it!

If you want to that is. Or I could do it for you. I'd do that.

With all of that ranting and raving...

Here's a few shots I took for a friend of his scale model RC truck in the mud. This truck is only 1/10 scale which is about 12-18 inches long.

For some reason, shots of little things pretending to be big things is always amusing to me. Not sure why.
That last statement is what you call "teeing it up" for someone. Someone knock it out of the park, please.

I love the truck shots, Railroader. I do wish there were some more shots with the mud flying up like in #1. That shot would be perfect if the center of focus was at about even with the front of the windshield. It looks like you got the bed in that one (I know the difficulties with nailing the focus on quick-moving objects with an XTi).

I agree with the straightening advice, BTW.

Here's a link to the gallery with 50+ shots of the same truck. Nothing like a little overkill eh?

As you can see, it was a bit muddy out and I had some good clothes on, or else I probably would have been laying in the mud taking better shots from a better perspective.

We call it "lobbing in a softball" around here.

I WILL be straightening up that picture pronto.

Please, do NOT misunderstand me, I really like the shot. Really really like it. I just want it to be even better.

It looks like the kind of shot you see selling in a shop that sells ready to hang pictures preframed.

I don't know, I think mdc's has more depth in it. Bumping the contrast kinda messes with the atmospheric perspective. It seems flatter to me now.

Railroader, I don't take any offense or anything regarding your constructive criticism.
After reading your thoughts and straightening the image I feel that it looks nicer straight.

I like your contrast on the snow, but not on the trees. I feel that contrast somewhere in the middle of our versions would be a happy medium.

Thank you for the compliments and constructive criticism.

I was on this old dirt road yesterday that we used to go drinking at in high school. I snapped off some pics of the sun setting. The few pics I took didn't come out exactly like I wanted, but I kept one and adjusted it in RAW to my liking. Little crazy looking, I sort of like it though:

nice pics erik, pano's not enjoyable though, too small!

These were taken today. I'm sure I think I could get much better shots since these guys rule my backyard, but eh.

I sort of guessed from the titles and feeling of intimacy (and the fact that you’ve been talking about her for ages).
