No. My experiences from driving the same route back and forth all the time. You asked if it made a difference. I said it has.
Do you expect a scientific ****ing study? If so, that is the dumbest possible question I've ever heard from you.

I'm saying that without a "scientific ****ing study" you CAN'T make any statements as to the overall effectiveness of your assholishness. All you have now is your personal (very clouded) judgment.

It's black on top, with red sides. Custom paintjob, which is why I definitely notice it.

I take it you didn't see the story of a kid posting on the internet how fast he got to go in his M5 and where and then the cops finding out and waiting to catch him and arrest him? Not making this up, it was on Jalopnik last week.

<Sigh> Well, I tried. I'd say the Epicnessâ„¢ potential of this thread is intact.

A thread isn't Epicâ„¢ until someone had been banned, half of the posts are deleted by a mod, it hits double digit page counts, or a meme is born.

This is what pretty much passes for epic nowadays. How often do lounge threads get past 2 pages?

Need to wait four pages, till we hit a double-digit page count, then we can delete half the posts, ban the posters, and make a meme out of that.

Rob would post, but he's busy trying to explain his lights to the cops that flagged him when he flashed some cardboard sign at them.

Man. Tonight was eventful. I was driving in the right lane, and I was about to pull into the left lane to pass a semi... and low and behold someone was about to pass me! ME! It was an Audi 100CS sedan, europa blue. Holy shit. That guy was givin' her. I tried to keep up, and hung with him for about 15 minutes, we were doing about 100mph or so. But the thing is the civic basically maxes out at 95mph. Eventually he lost me. That was fun though, and now... sadly, I can say someone beat me in my commute. Strange.

It’s not YOUR commute. Do you own it? Do people pay you to use the road that you use as well? That could probably be your problem. You think you own the route that you and many other people use, so when someone isn’t doing what you think is right on the route, then you get possessive.
Typical road ragers get raged up (flipping off Hummers, strobing, holding up signs IS road rage) when they can’t control the road. They all think, hey my car I can do whatever I want with the road in MY car.
Not YOUR road.

What are you even going on about? It is MY commute. I have a certain route. I don't own any part of the road, so I'm really not sure what you're babbling about.
Take your meds.

Ah - sounded like you were confused about someone passing you, which would make it likely you were slow to respond.
I agree with Oisin - strange life. Why are you concerned about someone 'beating' you on your commute? Dude, it's not a race. One of the most pathetic things I see on the roads is people trying to 'race' others who don't give two craps who 'wins'. Sounds like you're one of those people...

I'm not, really. Just amused. It's fun when you find someone who's driving fast to hang with them. I never tried to overtake him or anything. I guess you have to be a car person. When you find another person who's driving fast, it's just fun to see if you can keep up. SAFELY. Unlike all those people in the other thread who are endangering the lives of everyone.

I get that. Heck, I've done that too, just to speed things along and have some 'company' doing so. I guess that just doesn't jibe with your lament that you got 'beat' on your commute. Sounds like somewhere deep down, that matters to you - that's what's strange.
On a side note - it did always amuse me, when I had my BMWs - the number of people who would pull up wanting to 'race' me. It's not like I was being 'flashy' or anything - bone stock straight-up 3-series (i.e. not even an M3). Pathetic.
SAFELY. Unlike all those people in the other thread who are endangering the lives of everyone.
Hm. Somehow I'm having trouble seeing a difference.

The difference is that you actually believe that other people are aware of and can assess their own limits, while Rob is unlimited and everybody else just stupid.

More like I don't care how fast anybody drives as long as they're paying attention and in control, and was ripping on the stupidity of everyone who says I'm such a grave danger to the public by going 85mph.

Meh. I don't see too much bitching about speed in this thread. More on your selective deference to traffic rules, sensible or not. And on absurd reactions to perceived slights on your priorities.

I think we can all agree that holding up a road sign illustrating the issue is way more effective than flipping someone the bird.

How do we know your sign isn't just a high-res shot of you flipping them the bird?

It's literally a print out of the signs on the side of the road that say "slower traffic keep right".

Would you be convinced by someone showing you their very own "Speed Limit 55" sign? Or would you just be surprised by how pathetic it made them look?

Perhaps, but if so, not by much. It's sort of like determining whether a spoon or a fork is more effective for digging out the foundation of a building.

Perhaps, but to some drivers it accomplishes the same thing. That sign is going to have the same effect on them as flipping the bird or waving a red cape in front of a bull. In this day and age of road rage, I sure wouldn't want to risk it. Most of the time you could probably get away with it, but all it takes is one crazy angry driver to really ruin your life, possibly forever.
It just isn't worth it, given those stakes.
