Ok I used to play D2 way before I even got my mac.. I got it working now.. but the visuals are terrible on my 17" PB... there's no way to improve the resolution and/or visuals?

When I just got my diablo on mac and started Diablo2 carbon it showed a window that said something like video options, start diablo and cancel. Press the video options button and there will be some options how to run it just chose each and see wich one looks better

bring up the Video Options dialog while starting up Diablo2, then chose OpenGL.

as I can say from my own experience, the video quality of Diablo2 on mac os x heavily relies on what Graphic Card you use.

on a Single 1,8 GHz G5 with a NVidia 5200 everything looked perfectly, and way better then the standard DirectX on the PC. everything was smoothly anti-aliased and transparencies looked great.

on a Dual 2,0 GHz G5 with a Radeon 9800 Pro everything looked as bad as on the PC using DirectX. even enabling 4xAnti-Aliasing and 8xFiltering via the ATI Display Pref Pane didnt turn things better. major dropdown was a seemlingly bad scaling of the 800x600 resolution to 1280x.

on my current Dual 2,0 GHz G5 with NVidia 6800 the game looks as perfect as before. Diablo2 runs at fantastic 120-250 fps.

There is a tool for the PC version of Diablo2 - the GlideWrapper - that brings modern DirectX effects to the PC version. many PC players here use that tool. there indeed is a significant improve in effect quality and frame rates, but it still looks worse than the mac version on NVidia cards. especially when it comes to colors and transparencies.

interestingly, Diablo2 on mac os x seems to use AntiAliasing effects on NVidia cards that you have to manually activate on ATI cards. but even then it looks better on NVidia cards.

Weird... I installed this over the weekend in anticipation of the 1.11 patch. Works beautifully on my 20" iMac G5.

It's official, ladder reset coming some time on the August 8th.

yup. i have a character on the front page of the west hardcore classic ladder. it'll be sad to seem him go to non ladder... along with all my itams! :[ i like to duel more than level, lately, so i think i'm going to start off on softcore classic and get rich there, make sexy executioner and naga barbs, then start up my pure leveling chars on hardcore.

I'm also trying to get people together from about 3 different forums just to get more people to play, I will also be starting a new ladder char on Monday. Most likely a IceSorc. And possibly a Necro Summoner.

Looks like people on the battle.net forums are already gearing up for the reset. I can usually play weekdays around 5-10 and weekends are open. If anyone is up for following along please let me know in game.

Ok I know the thread starter was asking about a powerbook(so sorry if i hijacked your thread, but didnt want to start another one) but how does D2 play on a new iBook 12". I am looking at getting one soon and was wondering how it played.

Yea, I play it now on my pc but since this new patch came out its been restarting my computer on its own after only 5 minutes that I've been on for.

Today has come and it looks like the ladder will be reseting within the next few hours. I should be online tonight with my new Meteorb Sorc. Should be the the rooms "ars////technica" or "ars1////technica" and so on. I usually hang out there b/c there are sometimes quite a few helpful people to level with.

Hope to see you all there

it's an old game. should play fine. i use a dual 500 G4 and it's fine. just run it in software mode cause the openGL drivers have always been worthless.
