I'm wondering how well aperture runs on the new 17" MBP? I plan on getting one, but need to know if it will run nice and fast on these things?

runs great. though if you cant or wont get the second stick of ram you may as we go for a 15in with the extra ram, i have had both and the performance gap is narrowed by not having a second stick of ram in my 17 in.
Computers:
Macbook Pro: 17in, 2.16Ghz, 120GB HD, 1.5 GB ram.
iBook G4: 1.07Ghz, 60GB HD, 756mb ram (on sale for parts)

I thought when I tried Aperture on a 15 inch that the screen was a bit cramped.

Seems to run great according to all reports, ive got the 15" MBP, I can't say that I have aperture just because i mainly stick to PS for any image editing, and from my accounts with running PS non-native of course, is that aperture will please you for sure!

Uhh, Aperture isn't an image editing app. They don't compete. Aperture is for organizing and basic color correction and cropping. But organizing is 90% of its job. Photoshop doesn't organize at all.
