I just bought a new apple aluminum keyboard last week. I am having problems when trying to get into windows.

On the old keyboard, I just held down the option key and it gave me the choice between OS X and Windows.

Now on my new keyboard, Nothing happens. It just goes into OS X.

The firmware was updated when I first hooked up the keyboard.

Please Help!!!

Have you still got your old keyboard? If so, check if that works. Does the option key work otherwise?

Plugged the old keyboard in and that still works. Just not on the new keyboard.

I'm trying to think, what else would you use the option key for inside OS X?

edit: The option key works inside OS X. Just not when I start the computer up.

Was the previous keyboard nonbluetooth and the current one is?
I can't help but wonder if the bluetooth module isn't starting up until the operating system boots.

Yeah, both keys.

I did buy a new iMac the other day and the keyboard that came with it works perfect. Looks like I just need to exchange for a new keyboard.

So the same model kb works perfect when attempting the same action on the same computer, and yet the option key on the "bad" kb works fine after logging into OSX?

It's a power issue... exchange it...

It looks like its a computer problem rather than a key board problem.

On my new iMac, Both of the keyboards works at the start up screen to log into Windows.

On my old iMac, Both keyboards do not work at the start up screen.
