I'm considering upgrading my Mac with a new MacBook. However i do need to use Snow Leopard, and was wondering if it is possible to install SL on the new Mac or even boot into SL which is installed on an external HDD.

Cheers

Nope on booting. You can, however, run Snow Leopard Server in virtualization like Parallels or VMWare.
