Having never done it, I'm not familiar with the customs regulations here in the U.S. regarding leather products. And a quick look online to find the info seems to be more complicated that it should be.

I wanted to order a leather bag from Germany/UK and have it shipped to me here in the U.S., and was wondering if there are any restrictions/regulations I should be aware of before placing the order?

Cheers

I don't have any knowledge of leather specifically, but my general experience is:

1) Customs hold-ups are inversely proportional to how big a player the sender is. Apple can get stuff through with the equivalent of a nod and a handshake. Expect this to get caught up in the system for awhile.

2) Expect a sudden, and surprisingly large bill from the shipper for all the taxes and fees they had to pay to get it to you.

Wow, coincidence. I recently bought a leather jacket from Germany, it was shipped via DHL and arrived in 3-4 days. No issues that I know of.

Customs won't quarantine it, but they might see if they can squeeze you for an import tax.
