Okay, so as of this moment John Paul II is still alive. We all know that ain't gonna last.
There was a whole lot of shock back when JP II got elected Pope. He was the first non-Italian in centuries. Did he start a trend? Or will the Catholics go back to their old habits (oooh, what a lousy pun).
What do you think?

It's a stale rumor, but he is unlikely to be elected.

not likely... I think the Catholic Church is perhaps the one institution on Earth that can't be bought off by Fox. I mean, whay prize can they offer? The Pope can probably find a million dollars in gold in the cushions of his couch.

In all seriousness, though, I think the one thing that is certain is that the next Pope will share the views of the current one, because the current Pope elevated all of the Cardinals who are eligible to vote for the next one. And for the record, I think if they don't go back to tradition and pick an Italian Pope, the next Pope will be Latino.

Just so that it's not Cardinal Bernard Law. I'm not Catholic, so otherwise it doesn't really matter.
