Preview of the Chosen OS - Inspirat theme I've been futzing around with.
I'm coming up blank on the Apple menu look......
Standard high contrast apple?
or
Something completely non-apple?
Thoughts everyone?
P.S. Remade the widgets from scratch to get rid of the artifacting from borrowed graphics.

How about the standard Apple shape, with the look of the widgets/pressed menubar state. When pressed it could switch to a 1px stroke (no antialiasing/pixel) with shadow, like the x - + widgets.

Wow, this looks gorgeous - and no friggin' Tiger highlight caps!
I would stick with an Apple icon for the Apple Menu.
I would sure hope you can release this. (and soon!)

Looks very nice, and I too recommend sticking with some sort of apple for the menu.

It looks beautiful. About the apple i'd say do it in the style of the widgets ore replace it with the appe text in a button.

Dunno.. Could i please see a complete window? it's hard to make that call with the preview image you provided. My guess is that 'No' to the highlights...
Solid start to an awesome theme..
Edit: duh, i just looked up in the thread and saw the non-highlight version or subtle version. I would have to say that is my choice.. It doesn't take away from the widgets and i think they are the strongest visual element to the theme, so why not showcase them.

I say: NO!
Looks much more refined without the harsh highlight effect.

The stuff on the Finder buttons looks like Windows XP-ish stuff. Redo those. Looks fine to me.

The original Chosen OS black-silver-white glow doesn't fit your menubar/finder window, so a change might be good - even if it isn't the one you're proposing now. Perhaps I'd take the menubar as a start. Just my 2 eurocents.

you pedophile!
ps: you should make the window selector thing-a-ma-jig that same style of the border of the ugly widgets. like, flat on top, curved on the bottom.

Yes !!!
I would say go something non apple for the apple menu, after all it is a Longhorn inspiriat theme
At last we will be able to have an inspiriat version of this theme
Great work as always DJ

I think it looks amazing the way it is. Love the current apple menu apple too. I'm not a fan on 'other' things in the apple menu.

I like what I'm seeing but that Tiger style end cap looks rather... large.
Will there be a Panther style menu bar? Is this theme a long ways off or a quickie since it's a mod? In other words, any E.T.A.?

There is no Tiger style with this theme. The gloss variant looks like Max's OS XP themes...what is a "panther style menu bar"....if you mean one without any extras, and just an apple then yes. No, there's not an ETA....

A "Tiger style" bar is one that has that big, XP-like button design to the Apple menu. A "Panther style" bar is one that lacks it; looks like the very first picture you posted.
I don't even know if "Tiger style" is accurate seeing as I don't recall seeing a Tiger screen that had that end cap around the Apple menu, it's only for the Spotlight search but themers have started putting it on both ends and calling it "Tiger style" so I guess I picked it up from there...

that's the best description of it I've seen so far. just think, only a few short months until 10.4 comes out and then everyone will be trying to get away from it's XP-hax0r look as fast as they can.

I see the apple menu icon being the same size/shape as the normal aqua apple, except it would be filled with the same gradient you're using for the selected menu items/widgets

the apple menu looks out of place-- its a diff gradient than that on the menu + the window widgets. why not use the same all over?
also, i'm a fan of a small simple apple icon vs a 'button'. to hell with the widgets' windows origins =)
also-- i hope you're aware that the majority has joined cmove's side in wanting the gloss variant =)

I agree, the Apple menu looks like it's pulled from another theme or something. Doesn't match, it's too rounded. It's a little too XP looking also. The active menu state is also out of place, I'd mach everything to the widgets or the finder buttons.

i think it'd look better of the root menu item selector gradient was the same as all the other gradient instead of the flat grey.
