I'm planning to upgrade my current (and apparently no longer supported) Arris modem with a newer Arris DOCSIS 3.1 modem. As I'm doing this, I'm starting to consider replacing my old-but-rock-solid Apple AirPort Extreme router, a 2009 802.11n model.

We don't do a whole lot with the wifi here. Basic intarwebbing, a little tv streaming via a Roku stick, etc. Our phones default to using wifi for downloads and data, but that's not a biggie, either. Frankly, the Apple router has served us well.

I'm not on an especially fast tier with my ISP (Xfinity), so I'm not expecting the router to have any issues with the new modem. However, I think I definitely should be looking into replacing the AirPort eventually. What would you folks suggest?

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Unifi gear. I think they were founded by the Airport team when they left Apple.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I saw the title and thought, ah yes. Someone asking a woodworking question.

I like DeWalt, but have not tried their routers specifically. Actually, have not bought any routers recently, tool or networking.

I did watch an interesting video about building your own router the other day out of an old x86 PC with some extra network cards.
