My boss popped the Spiderman DVD into his iMac and it installed a screensaver that we can't seem to get rid of. It doesn't show up in the screen effects panel, but comes on when the computer has been idle for a few minutes.

Does anyone know where the screensaver is installed and how to get rid of it?

Can you change the screensaver to something else or does it just ignore your selection and start the spiderman one? You can look in System/Library/Screen Saver and see if it is in there.

Maybe the thing has its own engine instead of using Screen Effects.

Check Process Viewer and see if the thing shows up in there.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

That's my hunch, but I haven't noticed anything unusual in process viewer.

The screen saver comes on before screen effects is set to, so isn't being run by that.

Maybe someone with the Spiderman DVD could help me out here by seeing where the screensaver installs to?
