First of all I have a 1ghz TiBook 1gb Ram running OS X 10.2.6

I boot off Diskwarrior 3 disk. It builds an optimized directory but then tells me it can't update the old one due to a "MAC OS services failure" I've rebooted and tried this many times with the same result.

What is a guy to do? Any suggetsions would be greatly appreciated.

I made an OS X boot CD and included DiskWarrior on it, and haven't had any trouble.

There's an app called "BootCD" which lets you make a bootable CD and you can also include apps on it.

I suggest this as a possible remedy simply because i read that diskWarrior was unable to license the Finder for their bootable disks, and had to use some sort of workaround, though I don't know if that has anything to do with your problem.

Just call Alsoft tech support - they're *very* knowledgeable and friendly. So far I've only had one problem unfixable by DiskWarrior, and that disk was *way* too far gone for any disk util.

Chris-

I run Diskwarrior 3 from a BootCD CD already.

Thanks though.

I got that error while running from a separate start up drive. The error went on to say to boot up from the DW CD. However, you are saying that you did boot up fropm the DW 3 CD, so then there may be no other option then emailing support. DW couldn't save 2 drives of mine, not as fool proof as pre-X versions.

I've gotten that error message a couple of times. Luckily for me, simply rebooting and running DW3 again has always worked, although I did have to do it about 4 or 5 times on one occasion.
If all else fails, try using DW 2.1. Although it's an OS 9 program, it handles OS X disks just fine.

Why are you doing that? Boot from your retail CD, not the one you made yourself. It will support your TiBook model.
