I'm a veteran (I'm 56). Whenever I can't hold my own, I put it on the bar counter and only pick it up to drink. Whenever I'm drinking at a bar or a friend's, I always keep my own, because it's at my place.

I used to hold a fair amount, but i was doing oxy at the same time usually, so not as much as some. When I was doing coke i was a fish though.

Its kind of hard to answer your question. If i drink moderately than it stays that way. If I get to the point of almost not holding my own then why stop there? I'm on a roll, pass me another drink.
It's also kind of hard to measure how much because I'm a black out drunk. I can't remember how much I drank last night, I'll get a headache thinking about it.
But I found other ways to measure:
-I looked in my wallet this morning and what was $220, is now lint and a few reciepts.
-The number and types of mysterious scratches and bruises I find in the morning
-If I move out of bed in the morning and it smells like vomit somewhere, it was probably a bad night.
-Also where I wake up in the morning, on the floor, on the sidewalk, in somebody's bathroom, in someones bed, in a cell with bars. (I wake up and have to ask myself how did I get here?)
-once I woke up and my head was shaved, I still don't really know how that happened.
