I have a powerbook G4 (version=11.3)
I would like to know if there is a way to install an internal dvd recorder and most important if it makes any sense or if it is better to get an external.

You can get an internal DVDRW. Expect to to pay alot though. Or do alot of work (which will void your warranty if you have one).
If you buy the right drive, you will have to remove most of its casing to install it.
Check the drive compatability database at www.xlr8yourmac.com.

Or get it all done for you at www.mcetech.com

I'd just go with an external unless you need to burn DVDs on the road, which most people don't. You can get the 100% Mac OS X supported 8x Pioneer DVR-107D from NewEgg.com for around $100 and an external FireWire case for around $40 more.

Hi guys,
I got the flasher from XVI and wanted to improve my rip speed on the factory fitted Pioneer 106D in a PowerMac G5 dual 2GHz.
When I start the flash procedure i get a message,

"switching drive to kernel mode:"
"could not switch to kernel mode"

"Done"
i then restarted the computer. Checked in system profiler but not update had taken place at all.
Has anyone here had any luck with this one? Or can anyone here give me any advice??
Regards
