I'm looking for an ad-blocking app/plugin for Camino. It'd be ideal if there's something like PithHelmet for Camino.

Thanks!

Since Camino is open source, hacks like PithHelmet (SIMBL) would not really make sense.

Okay - then how does one do that? I tried to put userContent.css

http://texturizer.net/firefox/adblock.html

in ~/Library/Application Support/Camino folder, but visitng MacNN.com still showed all these annoying flash ads?

Any other suggestion?

Install the Firefox Flash-Block thing. Instructions are in this bug: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=244890
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Problem solved - just put the file in

~/Library/Application Support/Camino/chrome

and it works!

Actually found out a more comprehensive and up-to-date list of rules here:

Also save this as cookperm.txt in your Library/Application Support/Camino

http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/server...rm&showintro=0

This list is supposed to be updated dynamically.

That's awesome, it's one of my favorite features from OmniWeb 5 and now it's in Camino.

Thanks for that link Developer, you don't know any tricks to give it spell checking in form fields do you? I'd completely ditch Safari if I could get that.

Anyone knows where to 'Copy the FlashBlock CSS rules from Mozillas userContent.cs's to? I can't find Camino's userContent.css to copy the flashblock rules over to.

There isn't one by default, so you have to create a new file. Also, be careful with the name as it's case-sensitive.

Forgive me but how does one install .xpi in Camino? Force to drop the file on Camino just brings up a File Save dialog?

You can't install it directly. Read about it here.
