Well - what did everyone think about Steve Jobs' announcement at WWDC about Apple switching to the Intel processor next year? The speed increases ought to help out the team stats...

Why do you have a link to post a new thread? And why are you posting something that is already being discussed in zillions of threads already?

From the distributed computing perspective, I don't have a problem with it. It won't hurt the Team. After all, what makes a Mac a Mac is its elegance of design and Operating system. I don't care what the name is on the CPU, as long as it crunches real fast. My P4 3.4ghz does make a real good cruncher. It would only be sweeter with Mac OS.

The only DC that really benefited from PPC CPUs compared to x86 was RC-72 code cracking, the PPC do have trouble with some F@H units, if that is due to the CPU or compiler I do not know.
I already have a fair share of x86 running and the Centrino derivatives that Apple will use are wellcome as well...

Ditto. I like Mac OS X, and my PCs have always folded protiens faster than my Macs. Hopefully this means I'll be getting a new laptop next summer.
