Following DJs
tutorial to import any theme. For those unfamiliar with it a
RECAP:
1. Load the GuiKit of affection into
SS, ignore the message and hit continue.
2. Launch
TP, create new theme, add all the application skins, and go to the Menubar:
Theme > Merge with Installed Elements.
3. One note, if the theme uses those nifty menus with rounded endcaps instead of the ones that go to the edges of the drop down, you will need to turn on "options - Menu Enchancer" but this is only if it uses some nonstandard style in the rollover. If you do the merge and hit preview and it does not look right then simple turn on the ME in options and remerge - it won't hurt anything.
now the adjustin':
1. Go to
Elements > Finder > Toolbar items and you will see the
Back/
Foward and
View buttons are all twisted up.
2. You can steal the
B/
F buttons from
Application Skins Bar Buttons [most themers do this skin].
3.You will need to rebuild the view buttons but since there is a copy of the three states in the Safari skin from B/F, you are in pretty good shape there.
4. The glyphs get lumped together in the list view buttons - export all four to PhotoShop just for reference. When you import from PS be sure to use Resize Element with the items that are not to the specified size for that theme [typically 27x25 and 26x25] and it will drop right into place.
*
NOTE: the need for a creative eye and a bit of PS skill is quite essential depending on the complexity of themers initial design. A themers use of transparency to create "wells" that hold the buttons will send you screaming from the building before you figure out a way around it. HINT: CUT then Copy/Paste [ex: OPT/drag] is your friend, often just COPY/Paste will multiply the transpancy making an unseeming mess out of a really cool effect.*
Other elements that get affected:
Column view images -> resize handle [steal a copy from global elements>browser]
Save Dialog -> many elements there but that is why you saved the glyphs.
that is about it... total ETA - 1 to 2 hours tops unless you want to build other parts that were not part of the initial creation but then you aren't really downreving the file you are well into MODding. Oh once last thing, before you host or post a file - pleeze ask the creator for permission.
