This window has been showing up on my desktop about once a day. It must be from something I trashed, but does anyone know how to get rid of it?
???

It's hard to diagnose this without knowing what's generating that dialog. When you make that dialog box active, what application name shows in the menu bar? Also, run the Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and see if there are any error entries in the various logs when the dialog appears.

My first guess is that the once-a-day behavior points to one of the maintenance scripts, and that it may refer to a cache or log folder. Perhaps ~/Library/Logs/ or ~/Library/Caches/

If neither folder exists in your home/Library/ folder, try creating them. Also try a permissions repair on your disk. The folders that the maintenance scripts clear out will typically be created on the fly by anything that wants to write to them. Damaged permissions could prevent that.

Thank you for replying with help. I dismissed the window before I read your post, but if it comes up again, like it did this morning, I will try seeing what app creates it. Here are some entries from the console log from the last couple of days, if that helps.

I do like to play around; maybe too much. How would I eliminate these bad programs?

Compare the time the box popped up with the times shown in the log. My guess would be it's those Dashboard/iCal errors, which are probably caused by the dashboard "iCal Events" widget.
Remove that from your dashboard and see if it helps.

The InputManager hacks are in either /Library/InputManagers or ~/Library/InputManagers. Delete them all (except ones you are sure are worth the problems they cause).

Barney.
