Ok a month ago I didn't think much of this.

After the iPhone it got me thinking....

Could OSX also gain some gesture based interface options? Could that be what this patent is for and not so much battery life?

Well, I think the word "gesture" is a little misleading, as it suggests no actual physical contact between the device and your hand. Even with the iPhone, Apple talks about gestures. Would that not imply reading 3D movements ?

Or am I understanding this wrong ?

Maybe they're going to abandon the mouse and start shipping new Macs with a Wiimote.

I think gesture could also mean if you pick up the mouse and flick it up/down it will scroll or like on the iPhone right left moving from pic to pic.

The PS3 controller is gesture based and this sounds like it could be the same thing.

It would be cool to be able to kill a locked-up program by giving it the finger.

And that came from the newton.

You never hear much about that though as it is for the very very small market of people who use tablets and have the need to write not type.
