Considering the Seagate too, Toms Hardware gives the WD the edge in performance though.

I dunno... what do you want do with it? I mean performance is all good, but HDD performance is always a bottleneck for most things and the difference in speed won't be that significant.

Just a storage drive, but I've always had good luck with WD...and wasn't there an old issue with Seagate firmware on Mac Pro's where it didn't run at full speed? I'm sure that's been resolved by now, though.

Only plan to use it for 3 years anyway- what makes you lean towards Seagate, just curious?

Well storage drives don't need that much speed usually... Well if you go by your record. go with the WD, it is cheaper as well and the warranty is not an issue

I would but part of me is tempted to spend the extra $ and get a Deskstar hehe

Not sure really...I know the Seagate 7200.11's are coming out later this month and Samsung's new drives should be out soon.

I am waiting for the 7200.11 too... i dunno they might beat the WD, but supposedly it is only a firmware upgrade or something like that

Installed it- very fast, can only very slightly hear it when it's spinning, and seems reliable so far *knock on wood*
