When I send a job to a printer shared over the network, the icon for that printer that appears in the Dock no longer closes when the print job is finished.

In Tiger, the icon would remain until manually closed IF you opened it during the print process, but closed automatically if you never opened it.

In Leopard, the icon appears and stays until manually closed in all cases.

Has anybody else seen this, or know ow to fix it?

I learn something new every day, thanks! I did a clean install of Leopard and this was bugging me. I must have selected that in Tiger way back then and forgot about it.

Actually, I think this is new. I don't recall ever doing that in Tiger. I think it just did that automatically. The only way it would stay open after the job was done was if I selected it. Perhaps this is a new feature to give the user more explicit control over the behavior of the print queue?

This is new from Tiger. Never had to do this before . . . and . . . even after selecting Auto Quit, the printer is still showing up in the dock after I print. Anyone having this problem?

In Tiger I regularly have to quit my network laser printer manually to get it out of the Dock. Unfortunately Tiger doesn't have the "Auto Quit" menu command.
