I had to replace the HD in my iMac because it failed and now I have successfully restored from my Time Machine backup.

So now Time Machine seems to want to start fresh with an all new backup. This means I would have to erase all the backups created prior to the restore as there isn't room on the disk for two complete sets of backups. I want Time Machine to take up where it left off with all my incremental backups dating back several months. Do I really have to start fresh or is there some setting that I'm missing?

I'm using 10.6.6 on an iMac.
