If I press it with nothing in the drive, I get a freeze, nothing works but mouse movement (OS 9.1)

Under 10.0.3, the drive will open, but it won't close again (with no disc in the drive) when pressing eject.

everything USED TO BE fine, eject worked great, I impressed my friend with his 400/G4, as his wouldn't do it.. now mine doesn't

Grrr.. I know a few of you(or alot of you) have similar problems, anyone know more about this? a solution? I trashed keyboard prefs, cd/dvd prefs, zapped pram, no help.

thanks
drew

Under 9.1 (the only OS I have) the eject button both opens and closes the drive with or without any media in the drive.

I can confirm that using 9.1, the drive opens and closes with the eject key with no problem whether or not a disc is in the tray.

But for some reason, my tray opens after the computer starts up each day (it doesn't happen on a restart however). I am perplexed as to why the tray is always open every morning and what is causing it.

I have a G4/466 and I have never had any eject button strangeness. It opens and closes the door with or without a cd in there. I run 9.1 exclusively with all the latest updates including the latest firmware.
