Locking Down Macs

Hi-
I'm new to the Mac world and most of my experience has come from the Windows & Unix world. Recently I was asked if I could lock down a Mac for somebody. That is to say create logins and degrees of access for different logins. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a good guide for this on the net. Any suggestions?

You can use the "Multiple Users" control panel found under Mac OS 9, or if you're using OSX, well, its a multi-user system at heart.
What OS are you running?

I think its 8.5 or 8.something. If need be I can upgrade it to OS X It's a G3 450 with 196M RAM.

if you're at 8.something, try going to 9.1, but check versiontracker.com for compatible updates for other apps...
the multiple users panel in 9.1 is pretty versatile.
at 8.x.... check out the password protect control panel...

I suggest 9.04, if you have an OS9 CD... the 9.1 update is awful.
If you have a full 9.1 CD or can get one, then use that, I suppose.
Don't go to OSX...
