Microsoft on Tuesday issued a significant update of its free note-taking application, OneNote. The new version, 2.3, adds a number of user-requested features, including the ability to insert files into notes, add PDF printouts to any notebook page alongside a users' own notes, copy and paste formatted text and more -- as well as lock or unlock password-protected sections created in OneNote for Windows. The update affects all versions of the app, including iPhone, iPad and Mac. Also included in the update is the ability to create notebooks and save them to Microsoft's OneDrive for Business, even if the user has multiple accounts. Users can now move and re-order sections in notebooks, and move pages anywhere within the app. The Mac version of the OneNote upgrade also adds the ability to share a notebook page by email.
OneNote syncs data across multiple platforms, including Windows, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and the web. SharePoint and Outlook integration, however, still requires a paid version of Microsoft Office or Office 365.

I have yet to locate the supposed ability to insert files or add PDF printouts. I have been able to paste formatted text.

My issue w/ Office 365 and using OneNote/Outlook is that it requires the Business option to work w/ my company's Exchange server; Home versions won't allow me to collaborate w/ the staff. That stated, the Business "rental" cost of Office 365 is $150/yr...now match that w/ the typical upgrade cost of Office for Mac being $150. I can't see the value of a yearly charge with the only substantial benefit being Office for iPad versus a one-time charge for Office w/ a 4 yr lifecycle (Office Mac 2011).

@DiabloConQueso: thanks for the pointer, I still don't see it.
I closed down the app, did a full shut-down/restart of my iPad. Under the "Insert" tab, I see "Table," "Pictures," "Camera," "Hyperlink," "Date."
No "File Attachment" or "PDF Printout".
Maybe delete app and reinstall?

Ah, perhaps this only applies to the desktop app, where it's present.

Thanks, DiabloConQueso, that appears to be the case. (I deleted and reinstalled the iOS app without any change.)

dwlayman, it does appear as if that functionality exists in the iOS versions -- but not from directly within the OneNote app.
A little Googling around led me to this review, which contains instructions on how to do it:
