Apple has released iOS 8.1.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners. The firmware is a minor update, dealing mainly with a glitch which removed ringtones bought through the iTunes Store. People wanting to get those files back are being pointed to a special URL, which in turn redirects visitors to a new page at the Store.

The update otherwise delivers unspecified bugfixes and security improvements. It can be downloaded via iTunes or as an over-the-air update. Fetched via iTunes, the iPad edition of v8.1.2 can be as large as 1.95GB.

Oh sure. Because that's like the number one issue people had with iOS 8 so far.

Who the f*ck buys ringtones from the iTunes Store anyway?

People who haven't got the time or talent to make their own ringtones will buy them from iTunes because they are the kind of good quality, well produced tones that they want to hear on their iPhone.

I produce my own tones so I will pass on 8.1.2 and wait to see what else they fix that was overlooked in iOS 8, (like the keyboard feature in Remote), before I do anymore updates..

What a pitiful excuse for an update... Perhaps Apple can now address the myriad problems people are having with WiFi that began with iOS 8.0. Of course, Apple refuses to acknowledge any WiFi bugs but there are quite a few reports on the official Apple support forum.

It appears that the only way these problems are ever going to be fixed is if there is a class action lawsuit... Sound familiar?

Good grief. You're threatening class action over Wi-fi bugs?

Hello...?

@Spheric Harlot: Yes Indeed! Take a look at the thread(s) on the Apple forums. This has been going on since the release of iOS 8.0. A lot of iOS devices (including the iPhone 6) have been affected and some have even been effectively bricked... Apple has been dragging its feet with no public acknowledgment (of course...) so there are a LOT of understandably angry people out there.

I think that if you were also affected by those WiFi "bugs" you might be thinking "class action" yourself...

Sign up for a legal case that will drag on for four years after the issues have long been fixed, to maybe get a $20 gift certificate somewhere down the line, while the lawyers make millions and the legal system gets tied up for years?

American tort law is a complete nuisance.
